Roundnet events follow the shape the sport grew up with: pool play in the morning, a bracket in the afternoon. Teams are two players, games are quick, and a net needs only a few metres of grass, so a park tournament can run eight nets side by side and get through a great deal of play in a day.

Eight teams in one pool is twenty eight games, which is too many for a morning. The usual split is two pools of four, six games each, everybody plays three, and the pool result seeds the bracket that follows. Draw the pool here first, then draw the bracket as a second tournament with the qualifiers in it.

Which format to run

Round robin pool play into a knockout, which is the standard at every level of roundnet. Straight double elimination is a reasonable shortcut for eight teams or fewer at a casual event where nobody is seeding anything.

Running it on the day

Pool games are usually a single game to 21, win by two, at around twenty minutes. Bracket matches move up to a best of three.
A net is a station and needs a few metres of clear space around it, so the limit at a park is usually ground rather than equipment.
Enter each team as one line in the Teams division with both players after a colon, so the printed sheet names the pair.
Point differential is the usual pool tiebreak in roundnet. This table ranks on match points only, so keep the game scores on the sheet.

How long it takes

Rounds run one after another, because a round cannot start until the one feeding it has finished. Matches inside a round can all run at once, so the number of nets you have decides the day more than the number of entrants does.
